The 14 Castle Coloring Pages
1. Fairy Tale Castle With Tall Towers

A grand fairy tale castle with tall towers, pointy turrets, and a big front gate — tall windows and a winding path make it feel like a princess or a knight could walk out at any moment. Coloring tip: soft purples and pinks give a storybook look, or use stone grey for a realistic castle.
2. Princess Castle With Flags

A pretty princess castle with flags flying from every turret, plus hearts and flowers around the gate for little artists who love small details. Coloring tip: make each flag a different color, then add gold gel pen sparkle to the tower roofs.
3. Medieval Castle With a Moat

This medieval castle coloring page shows a strong stone castle surrounded by a moat — a ditch of water that helped protect the people inside — with thick walls and tall towers. Coloring tip: color the moat in layered blues and greens, leaving a little white space to make the water sparkle.
4. Castle Drawbridge

The star here is the drawbridge — the heavy wooden bridge that could be pulled up to keep enemies out. Chains, planks, and the castle gate behind it make this a fun page for kids who love how things work. Coloring tip: use two or three browns for the planks so the bridge looks old and strong.
5. Knight in Front of a Castle

A brave knight in shining armor stands in front of a great castle, shield in hand and a flag flying above the tower behind him — a favorite knight and castle coloring page for medieval adventure fans. Coloring tip: design the knight’s shield yourself — stripes, stars, or a family symbol of your own invention.
6. Dragon Flying Over a Castle

A friendly fairy-tale dragon with big wings soars smiling over the castle towers — this dragon is a guest, not a danger! Coloring tip: green is classic, but purple, red, or rainbow scales look fantastic too. Add a soft orange sky for sunset magic.
7. Castle on a Hill

A peaceful castle sits high on a green hill, with a winding path, trees, and clouds drifting by — a calm scene for younger kids and landscape fans. Coloring tip: use different greens for the hill, trees, and bushes so the scene doesn’t blend into one color.
8. Sandcastle at the Beach

Not every castle is made of stone! This happy sandcastle stands at the beach with buckets, shells, and little flags, and ocean waves rolling in behind it. Coloring tip: use sandy yellows and light browns, and add tiny dots to make the sand look grainy.
9. Castle in the Clouds

High above the ground, a dreamy castle floats among soft clouds and stars — the kind of kingdom you might visit in a dream. Coloring tip: keep the clouds white with a light blue or grey outline, and make the castle bright so it pops off the page.
10. King and Queen in the Throne Room

Step inside! A king and queen sit on their thrones in a grand throne room, wearing crowns and royal robes, with banners on the wall — a peek at castle life from the inside. Coloring tip: deep red, purple, and gold are the classic royal colors for thrones, crowns, and robes.
11. Castle Parts Diagram

This educational castle coloring page is a labeled diagram with the key parts named: moat, drawbridge, tower, and wall. Kids learn the real words while they color — great for teachers covering the Middle Ages. Coloring tip: color each labeled part a different color so it’s easy to remember what each word means.
12. Detailed Castle Scene

Our most detailed page: a full medieval kingdom scene with a big castle, towers and turrets, battlements, a moat, a drawbridge, knights, flags, and a village in the distance. It’s made as one of our castle coloring pages for adults and older kids who love a longer session. Coloring tip: work in sections — sky, then castle, then details — with fine-tip pens for the tiny parts.
13. Cute Castle With a Face

A sweet little castle with a smiling face, rosy cheeks, and tiny flags on its turrets, drawn with big, simple shapes and plenty of room for chunky crayons. Coloring tip: let your child pick their happiest colors — this castle looks great in rainbow shades.
14. Simple Castle

Our easiest page: a simple castle outline with one tower, a gate, and a flag, drawn with big, bold lines — perfect for toddlers still learning to stay inside the lines. Coloring tip: it also works as a template — trace it to design a castle of your own.
Fun Facts About Castles
Castles were built to protect people. Real castles were built in the Middle Ages, hundreds of years ago, as safe, strong homes for kings, queens, lords, and the people who lived and worked around them.
Many castles had a moat. A moat is a deep ditch dug around a castle, often filled with water. It made the castle much harder for enemies to reach.
The drawbridge could be pulled up. The drawbridge was the only bridge across the moat, and guards could raise it with heavy chains. With the bridge up, the castle gate was safely shut away behind the water.
Castle walls were very thick. Stone castle walls could be several feet thick — thick enough to stand up to attacks and keep the inside cool in summer and warmer in winter.
The gaps at the top are called battlements. The tooth-shaped gaps along the top of castle walls are called battlements. Defenders could shelter behind the solid parts and watch through the gaps.
One famous castle is still a home. Windsor Castle in England is a royal residence still lived in today, and it has been a home for kings and queens for nearly 1,000 years.
Castle Activity Ideas
Build a castle from cardboard boxes or blocks. Stack boxes for towers, cut a door for the gate, and add paper flags on top — then see how tall your turrets can go before they tumble.
Design your own family flag. Every castle flies a flag, so why not yours? Draw a simple flag with colors and a picture that stands for your family — an animal, a star, your initials — then color it and hang it up.
Make a sandcastle at the beach or in a sandbox. Use buckets as molds for towers, dig a little moat around your castle, and fill it with water. No beach nearby? A sandbox, a tray of kinetic sand, or even a big bowl of damp sand works.
Write a short fairy tale about your castle. Pick a castle you colored and invent its story. Who lives there — a knight, a princess, a friendly dragon? Write a few sentences and read them aloud like a real storyteller.
Coloring Tips for Castle Pages
Stone looks best in layers: start with light grey, then add darker grey shading on one side of each tower to make the castle look round and solid. For a warmer, storybook stone, try pale tan and brown instead.
Gold and silver are your best friends for flags, crowns, and knight armor — a metallic gel pen over the top of pencil color makes them shine. Roofs often look wonderful in red, blue, or teal, which stand out beautifully against grey stone walls.
Don’t forget the background. A sunset sky, green hills, or blue moat water turns a simple page into a whole kingdom scene — and it’s a great place to practice blending colors.
